Teachers have no superpowers
Teachers have no superpowers
A teacher's words are the least significant element of a yoga class.
We may speak, you may hear our words, but the most precious treasure you'll find in class is your ability to listen in to yourself
Individual experience and exploration are everything.
All our experiences - everything we see, read, taste and feel is absorbed deep into our tissues, into the fabric of ourselves. A teacher's thoughts and suggestions are only that - they are whispers in the background, reflecting what they felt in their tissues, but words are inadequate translations of physical sensations.
They so often fall short in explaining or stimulating similar responses:
⠀
Physical sensation⠀
Muscular response⠀
The firing of synapses
When you listen in, you'll feel how these relate to you, your patterns and your relationships with gravity, breath, your spine and yourself.
⠀
What we do, how our bodies move in response to specific gestures we choose to make, these are all sensed in relationship which reflects our primary relationship the one we have created with ourselves since before birth.
⠀
As teachers, the best we can do with integrity is to hold space for students to explore their own experience and relationships. This is the focus of our teaching on our Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training Course.
