How to Apply
All applications will be reviewed and assessed for eligibility and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. We encourage you to apply early to secure your place.
Application Process
When you apply, the information provided is treated as confidential and will only be seen by staff involved with this teacher training course.
To apply, the following steps need to be completed in full before we can guarantee your place on the course:
- Complete and submit our online application form or download and complete our word document application form and return it to us together with the supporting documents (see below)
- Send us a photo of your head and shoulders
- If requested, attend a yoga class with Catherine
- Your application will be confirmed as successful or unsuccessful
- Make payment to secure your place
To apply, everyone must complete the application form and supporting documents. If you’re completing the Word document, full details of where to send it upon completion are included.
Please ensure you meet all the eligibility requirements or explain any circumstances you’d like us to take into account.
Once we’ve received your application and supporting documents, we’ll review your application within 7 days. If you meet all the criteria we may ask you to attend a class so that we can see your practice, unless you are already a student of Catherine Annis or one of the other IYTT tutors. We may also arrange an interview if we have other questions.
If you are offered a place on this course, we will send you The IYTT Registration Form, which we ask you to complete as acceptance of confirmation of place and return to us with your registration payment. Once your registration form and payment have been received, we will email confirmation together with the reading list to help you prepare for our exciting journey ahead. Places can only be confirmed once we have provided final acceptance details and have received payment.
If we can’t accept your application on this intake, we will give you as much detail as possible so that you can take action and prepare for the next course.

Two letters of reference
Your referees should know you well, and be able to give an assessment of your suitability for the course, together with a brief character reference. In addition, your yoga teacher referee should have a good knowledge of your yoga practice.
- First referee: Yoga teacher (strongly preferred unless you are a regular student of Catherine Annis or any of the IYTT faculty teachers).
- Second referee: May be selected from the following source:
- Recent college or course tutor,
- Recent or current employer,
- Second yoga teacher with whom you have practiced regularly
- Please ask your referees to complete the relevant form on the following pages.
Please download and print the Referee's proforma sheet and give it to your referees to complete. You can then scan in your completed forms and email them back to us at admin@iytt.co.uk. Alternatively, you can post them back to us at the following address:

Please call us on 01398 328 442 if you have any questions about the application process.
Eligibility
We’re looking for serious and committed applicants with a solid foundation in the practice of yoga. You don’t need to be able to perform the most complex and challenging yoga forms – we’re looking for trainees with a mature practice who know their own limits and who have a desire to learn and deepen their understanding of yoga. You should have a minimum of 2 years regular and consistent yoga practice, preferably through class attendance. You will also need a regular yoga teacher whose classes you have been attending for at least a year, who can provide a reference to support your application. In addition, some element of self-practice is viewed very favourably.
We are equally happy to welcome applications from serious yoga practitioners who would like to deepen their knowledge and understanding of yoga, regardless of whether they currently intend to become teachers themselves.
We look forward to welcoming you to Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training and to sharing a fresh, inspiring and transformational approach to yoga.
If you'd like to sample a Scaravelli inspired yoga class, join one of Catherine's weekly online sessions at Catherine Annis Yoga.
