Pioneering London Yoga Teacher Training Course – BWY Accredited

London Yoga Teacher Training Course

Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training (IYTT) was founded by Catherine Annis.

Our mission of this London yoga teacher training course is to establish the training as a centre for excellence, and one of the world’s leading yoga teacher training schools.

The London yoga teacher training course focuses on developing a clear understanding of the fundamentals of movement and anatomy, and our faculty includes world renowned teachers, Peter Blackaby and Gary Carter, making it one of the most comprehensive groundings in anatomy of any teacher training diploma in the UK.

∗  The next course begins in September
∗  18 month course
∗  Over 200 contact hours with senior teachers
∗  London
∗  Maximum 18 trainees
∗  Certified and accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance Professionals

This London yoga teacher training course has been created to develop, knowledgeable, responsive and confident teachers who teach yoga based on a solid understanding of both the fundamental workings of the body and an appreciation of its natural intelligence.  Because we believe it takes time to develop great teachers, IYTT provides well over 200 hours of contact with senior teachers, and is backed up by ongoing assessment, and supportive mentoring and supervision.

The London yoga teacher training course is fully recognised and accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga and by Yoga Alliance Professionals (UK).

It has been created for teachers, trainee teachers and students wishing to become teachers and for those who wish to significantly deepen their knowledge, practice or teaching of informed, safe and effective yoga, breathwork, meditation and other related subjects.

Course Content

Our aim is to provide a thought-provoking course content, which actively encourages students to question current teaching methods and alignment cues.  During the course, we will encourage trainees to develop a deeper understanding of how they work with, and relate to, their bodies, and how to adapt that understanding to create new, healthier approaches to living and moving.

Our approach to yoga is driven by the most current scientific anatomical and movement research and we hope to produce intelligent, skilful and responsive teachers, who nurture their practice and teaching of yoga through a consistent and mature personal practice.

The course content for this London yoga teacher training course will be practical and skills-based, and will also facilitate a personal journey of exploration and discovery.   Material will be delivered in a variety of ways including formal lectures, guided practice and asana technique classes, group work, teaching practice and individual study and reading.  The course covers four key areas:

asana, pranayama and meditation

anatomy and physiology

teaching skills

philosophy

mentoring and supervision

As part of the London yoga teacher training course content we will explore the place of yoga in our modern lives, and show how it remains current and relevant to practitioners in the Western world.  The study of anatomy and physiology is highlighted on this course, and will be delivered by renowned teachers Peter Blackaby and Gary Carter, providing one of the most comprehensive groundings in anatomy of any teacher training diploma in the UK.

Supportive Mentoring

We believe in supporting all trainees throughout their training, and beyond.

At this London yoga teacher training course, you are never just a number, and we hope to stay in touch and continue to support you well beyond your time on the course.  We have created a mentoring program for all trainees which includes structured 1:1 mentor meetings and group supervision meetings facilitated by the leading yoga teachers.

We are also unique in having at least one senior yoga teacher acting as an assistant to the team, as well as one recent graduate, who has recently completed their training with Catherine Annis.  Our assistant teachers also generously make themselves available to offer advice and support.  We’re honoured to have them, and value the fresh perspective they bring to the teaching sessions.

At the end of each IYTT programme,  there will be opportunities for trainees to join the teaching team as teaching assistants once they have graduated.  This is a valuable chance for you to review your training from the other side, and to work closely with the teaching team, learning how to hold space and deliver a teacher training programme first hand.
